Upcoming:

Friday, October 3, 2014 at The Jazz Room presented by the Grand River Jazz Society. NVJQ continues its evolution as a quintet with the wonderful addition of Jerzy Kaplanek.

The Quintet will also be playing Sunday, October 5 at the Block 3 Brewery, St. Jacob's as part of the Craftfest happening in the region. A pairing of local craft-brewed beers and locally made chocolate (Bean to Bar and Ambrosia Bakery) will make for a special afternoon. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective) this event is sold out.

In the recent past:

Friday, May 23, 2014 at The Jazz Room presented by the Grand River Jazz Society.

Saturday, May 3, 2014 Homer Watson House & Gallery, a collaboration of painting and live jazz presented by the gallery.

Friday, December 20, 2013 The NVJQ played its annual Christmas Cheer concert at Queens Commons Cafe in Kitchener. We were joined on guitar by Ted Gibbons, Violin Jerzy Kaplanek and vocalist Charlena Russell. Lots of fun was had with the lunch time crowd and it was great to share the spirit of Christmas with such fine musicians. September 13, 2013 NVJQ continues as a Quintet with another charmed night at the Jazz Room! Jerzy Kaplanek is now regularly playing with the NVJQ; a complete thrill for the quartet.

May 4th, 2013 at the Homer Watson House & Gallery. What a splendid night we had. Our debut concert with Jerzt Kaplanek opened with a violin solo over Autumn Leaves that left no doubt that the concert would be special. Also in the audience was vibes man Tom Cummings who spontaneously joined the group for a couple of tunes. The vibes duet was joyful and fun.

March 2, 2013 NVJQ played a lovely concert at the Homer Watson House & Gallery. Thanks to the staff at the gallery for making us feel so welcome. Nice to be surounded by art!

November 30, 2013 Waterloo Region's Jazz Room is truly a great spot to hear jazz. Thanks to the Grand River Jazz Society and the Jazz Room for their ongoing support and local encouragement of live jazz. John Zadro, piano, continues to find interesting tunes for the quartet to "stretch out" on. Thanks to all who came by on such a snowy Friday night.

September 28, 2012 was a return to the ambience, great food, and community spirit of the Working Centre's Queen Street Commons Cafe. The show featured Ted Gibbons on guitar and Jacob DeGroot-Magetti on violin.

June 15, 2012 The New Vibes Jazz Quartet joined their favourite vocal ensemble, SOUL SOUCE at Waterloo North Mennonite Church. Close vocal harmonies with energetic delivery and a warm hospitatlity for their show. Soul Sauce has just finished their 4th season; their fifth will sure to delight.

May 31, 2012 Friends of the CBC Forum, Knox Presbyterian Church (3:30 - 4:15) and Clay and Glass Gallery (across the street, 6:00 to 7:30).

The forum was webcast on www.friends.ca. After the forum we rolled across Erb Street (literally) to the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery and continued the celebration with cocktails and the Dalton Camp Literary Award. It was a privilege to provide music for good folks with a good cause. Thank you CBC and the listening community!

May 4, 2012 What a night! Lots of new repetoire; a full house and an appreciative audience. Thanks Grand River Jazz Society for a great night.
